Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support welding, fabrication, assembly, and electrical control panel operations by ensuring products meet company, customer, and industry quality standards.
This role focuses heavily on weld inspection, dimensional verification, workmanship evaluation, and UL-compliant control panel inspection throughout incoming, in-process, and final manufacturing stages.
The Quality Inspector works closely with Production and Quality teams to identify nonconformances, maintain compliance, and support consistent product quality.
Responsibilities:
Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with engineering drawings, weld symbols, and applicable acceptance criteria.
Verify weld size, profile, continuity, and workmanship against specified requirements.
Identify weld discontinuities such as cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, overlap, or distortion.
Confirm adherence to welding procedures and fabrication standards.
Support weld traceability and documentation requirements.
Communicate weld-related quality concerns directly with welders, supervisors, and quality leadership.
Incoming, In-Process & Final Inspection
Perform incoming inspections of castings, machined parts, fabricated components, and purchased materials.
Conduct in-process inspections during fabrication and assembly to ensure compliance with specifications.
Complete final inspections verifying dimensional accuracy, fit-up, torque requirements, alignment, and overall product quality.
Use inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measurement devices.
Inspect electrical control panels in accordance with UL 508A standards, verifying component installation, wiring, labeling, and overall panel construction quality.
Nonconformance & Documentation
Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
Initiate and support nonconformance reports (NCRs) and containment activities.
Assist with Material Review Board (MRB) processes by providing inspection findings and supporting documentation.
Quality & Production Support
Monitor production processes for adherence to work instructions and quality standards.
Verify calibration status of inspection tools and measuring equipment.
Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain organized inspection areas and promote safe work practices.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
Experience in manufacturing inspection, welding, or fabrication environments.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
Knowledge of visual weld inspection practices; familiarity with AWS standards preferred.
Experience using mechanical measurement tools.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
UL Certified (Underwriters Laboratories) or ability to obtain UL certification required for control panel inspection activities.
Preferred:
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or relevant welding inspection training.
Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems.
Background in pump manufacturing, rotating equipment, or heavy fabrication.
